I’ll admit it, I am the co-Founder obsessed with vintage light bulbs. I think they look great filling a bowl or on a stack of books on a table or shelf. To me they are beautifully sculptural in shape, the filaments are typically so delicate and intricate, and often the old ones have mottled milky glass which shows their age beautifully. So I am always trying to push light bulbs on my co-horts. So imagine my delight and embarrassment when one of the latest episodes of Portlandia (an IFC original television series created and starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein) makes fun of the whole lightbulb fixation popular among hipsters. Do you remember “Put a Bird On It”? While I resisted the bird motif I can’t get enough vintage lightbulbs, and people like me seem to be the next ones to poke fun of. Take a look at a clip from the show, and some of our own bulbs.
