Funny, this living room is one I always respond to- it’s had a lot of press, and is certainly gorgeous. But when I looked at it closer the other day I realized that the subtle layering was what I really love in this space. All the surfaces are collections with room to breath and the main pattern seen in the 2 layered carpets is so perfect.
Layering carpets is certainly not a new idea- but when done well the interest created on the floor can be integral to the success of a rooms design.
How many months of winter still ahead? I say a trip to Ikea for a cheap and cheerful self-bound sisal rug (layered under an old worn Persian carpet) is in order.
